Wood Industry and Utilization

This programme seeks to develop technologies for efficient processing and utilisation of wood and non-wood forest products as a means of reducing waste as well as wood exploitation. Priority areas include:
- Wood processing and product development.
-
Reduction of residues and improvement in residue utilisation
-
Processing and utilisation of Lesser Used (LUS) and Lesser-Known (LKS) species.
-
Small-diameter logs and non-traditional timber processing.
-
Incubation and linkage to industry/small medium enterprises.
-
Development of standards and certification of marketed products.
-
Development of standards and regulations to govern the operations of small-scale and medium-scale forest enterprises (including the development of the informal wood sector).
-
Support specialised training and craftsmanship schemes for wood processing, bamboo, rubber wood, rattan and lesser-known tree species.
-
Biofuel
